Attention All Employers

In terms of the Contributions Act 63 of 2002; employers are required to, in addition to paying UIF contributions to SARS, send monthly UI.19 declarations to the UIF and declare their employees on uFiling. SARS is merely a collection agent for the UIF. SARS collects UIF contributions payments from companies and pays them to the UIF Commissioner.

If the employee is not declared at the UIF, the application will be declined with the reason code “employee not declared by employer”. Employers will then need to declare their employees on uFiling.

Any company’s non-compliance to declare their employees is in contravention of Sections 65, 51, 56 (1) (2) C) and (4) of the Unemployment Insurance Act. For more information and assistance feel free to contact us.
